Wednesday, May 30, 2007 ( A week of pure 'entertainment' ) Have you ever heard of the National Youth Achievement Award? I'm taking the last stage of this 3 part level - Gold Standard. And one of the criteria is for me to organise and execute an adventurous journey aka EXPEDITION. Will start in SP, then proceed on towards Northeast to Ubin, then come down South to Sentosa. Finally heading back to SP as our last lap. Seems easy putting words but the obstacles that lies ahead is unknown. Out of the 8 people that are going, I can safely say that 4 people(including me) had done some sort of expedition before. We had bought food last night, it's really a lot of can food and bread, not to mention 'Motivational Food' like Yummy Gummies and Oreo Biscuits(my favourite)... It's gonna be a long walk ahead. Why? That's because of our culture now. The trend of getting the anything latest, from gadgets to fashion. The sense of power in their own hands. For example, demanding(not asking) for something. Taking own relatives to court over something so trivial, so child-like. Many people have now forgotten about compassion, trust, respect, and honor. I'm truly sadden indeed. To think that these God-like behaviours are slowly but surely diminishing, and the truly disgusted ways of the devil-like behaviours emergers. Why are there a lot of trendy shirts printed about death, devil or any other disgusting and very vengeful kind of way? Why is there nobody who dares to produce something that is 'pure'? The way Singaporeans now address themselves as 'Mats & Minahs', 'Ah Bengs & Ah Lians'(I'm reffering to the youths here since I'm one too), are to me, so repulsive. I feel disgusted. These people have no LIFE. Leading a life being an absolute copycat of someone or some culture 1000KM away in another country called a 'Free State'. We have our own culture, our own heritage, but nobody has ever make something trendy out of these. Always from the West.
